Quebec's official moving day

Quebec's official moving day
Did you know that Quebec is the only place in the entire world with a set moving date? Almost half of all Quebec residents move on July 1st.

However, over the last few years, moving dates have started staggering out between June and September.

Prior to 1974, May was the month with the highest record number of moves. However, on January 1st, 1974, a provincial law came into effect which standardized annual lease periods so that school-aged children could finish their academic year without having to change institutions during the academic year. It also encouraged parents to move during the summer months.

Amusing statistics!

Here are the results of a survey conducted by BELL in June 2000:

•Bell hooked up over 240,000 service connections from June to July 2000.

•Over 70% of all people do not hire professionals when they move.

•48% of all people eat out at restaurants the day of the big move.

•The most popular moving day menu selections are pizza and chicken.
